God didn't get it wrong

I started writing books when I was about 18 years old.... I turned 30 last week. 30! That's twelve years of writing books. How many have I finished? How many have I published?
None.
Sometimes I wonder what on earth I have been doing all this time and I ask myself what God must think of my seeming lack of progress.( Then I remember that I have 3 kids under 5 and they keep me fairly busy, so I have an excuse for a couple of years at least.) But in all seriousness, I do, I ask myself what have I actually done? What have I achieved on this project?
You see I believe He gave me an ability to write and a desire to use that to help people develop in their faith. I believe He spoke to me very clearly about it and at the age of 18 or so I set off with a loud cry into the challenge, I let everyone know what I was doing and I was driven by passion.
Over the following years this must have seemed to those around me to have fizzled out to insignificance, prompting many friends and family to ask me whether I was still writing and my answer would be - ye, I am, I'm just busy at the moment.
Now I've come to see recently that I need not question myself. For God knows me, and He knew me back then, 12 years ago. God knew what was waiting for me, He knew the decisions I would make, the paths I would take. He knew the procrastination and the excuses I would make - but He called me all the same.
God didn't get it wrong, that call still rings out to me today. I could have worked harder, I could have made more time for it. But God is gracious and good. He forgives and He is patient.
Maybe you've experienced something similar - Perhaps God spoke to you when you were younger and you've not seen any movement, you feel you've not made any progress. I'd encourage you to remain faithful, to be patient but also to ask God about it again.
God didn't make a mistake in calling you but sometimes there is a delay between the initial call and a visible outcome.
